What is videophony - SIP?
SIP videophony combines traditional door intercom systems with modern IP-based technology. SIP stands for Session Initiation Protocol, a communication standard that enables voice and video over IP networks. This brings audio and video directly to a central management interface. If SIP is not preferred, video intercom can also be integrated via other secure protocols or standards.
How does videophony work?
- Video communication:
When someone rings the doorbell, a video and audio connection is established. - Identification:
Based on the video feed, you can immediately determine who is at the door and whether they should be granted access to your building. - Access control:
If desired, access can be granted via the system, for example by unlocking a door or activating a gate. - Integration capabilities:
SIP systems can be seamlessly integrated with other security solutions such as smart door locks, access control, and VMS (Video Management System). Integration via other supported standards is also possible.
The benefits of SIP videophony
- Real-time communication:
Audio and video are transmitted in real time, allowing immediate response to visitors. - Secure identification:
Video communication helps prevent unauthorized access by visually identifying people before granting entry. - Easy integration:
For example, combine SIP video intercom with other security systems. - Efficient and time-saving:
You don’t need to be physically present at the door or gate. Access is handled easily and seamlessly from a distance.
