What is Under-vehicle inspection (UVIS or UVMS)?
Under-vehicle inspection, or UVIS (Under Vehicle Inspection System) or UVMS (Under Vehicle Management System), is a high-end inspection system specifically designed to scan the underside of vehicles and identify suspicious objects or anomalies. The system uses high-definition cameras and advanced software to rapidly deliver a detailed image and analysis of the vehicle’s undercarriage.
This prevents hidden weapons, explosives, drugs, or other prohibited items from gaining unnoticed access to secured locations.
How does UVIS work?
- Undercarriage scanning:
When a vehicle drives over the UVIS system, high-definition cameras capture precise images of the underside of the vehicle. - Software analysis:
The AI-driven software compares the image with previous scans or a predefined database, automatically identifying anomalies, hidden objects, or open spaces. - Immediate feedback:
The system provides real-time alerts to security personnel upon detection of suspicious elements or anomalies. - Integration with other security systems:
UVIS can be linked to access control, number plate recognition (ANPR), and CCTV systems for a fully integrated approach.
The benefits of under-vehicle inspection:
- Fast and efficient inspection:
UVIS enables a full inspection of vehicles in a matter of seconds. - Non-intrusive inspection:
Drivers do not need to leave the vehicle and the inspection is completely contactless. - Accurate detection:
High-definition cameras and smart software reduce false positives and identify even the smallest anomalies or hidden objects. - Flexible installation:
Suitable for fixed installation at entrances to secured areas or as a mobile solution for temporary sites.
